8 Ways Video Games Make No Sense (And We Don't Care)

4. Ancient Tombs Have Lit Torches & Goodies - Tomb Raider

The Tomb Raider games are nothing if not escapist entertainment in the tradition of the Indiana Jones movies - that is to say, you're not invited to think too long and hard about the finer logistical details.

All the same, once you've played enough of these games, it's tough not to question who the hell is lighting all of the torches in these ancient tombs which apparently haven't been accessed by humanity for centuries or longer.

Now of course, in the newer Tomb Raider games you can probably argue that agents belonging to the shadowy outfit Trinity made it to the tombs before Lara did, but it's still a stretch.

And even if you can suspend your disbelief enough to accept that, who is constantly restocking the tombs' traps with fresh darts? And why are there modern weapons and health items just randomly strewn around?

Not unlike the presence of yellow paint in games, these are just silly functional things we all accept because, at the end of the day, they make playing the game more enjoyable for most people.
