8 Ways Video Games Make No Sense (And We Don't Care)
3. Higgs Has A Battle Guitar... Because Reasons - Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Hideo Kojima and not making sense go hand in hand, so just try and explain why Death Stranding 2's villain Higgs is rocking an awesome battle guitar.
Go on, we'll wait.
Higgs' battle guitar can spew fire and electricity at will and basically seems to exist in the game solely because it looks really freaking cool. And if there was somehow any lingering doubt, Kojima more-or-less confirmed this himself.
Kojima revealed in an interview that he gave Higgs a guitar to better match his personality to that of the actor who portrays him, Troy Baker.
After Kojima saw Baker playing guitar on his own YouTube channel during the pandemic, he decided to incorporate this over-the-top iteration of Baker's past-time into the game itself.
There's no deeper meaning, nor is it a direct reference to a movie Kojima loves - it's simply a case of the guy watching a YouTube video and being inspired to honour his friend and colleague.
Higgs' guitar may be completely allergic to logic, then - even for the standards of Death Stranding - but it's so damn neat that it's tough to imagine anyone really caring.
