8 Worst Spin-Offs From HUGE Video Game Franchises
1. Sonic Free Riders
Shadow the Hedgehog has way too many vocal defenders to ever be included on this list, so we'll go with Sonic Free Riders instead.
This Sonic-themed hoverboard racing game was released for the Xbox 360 in 2010 and could only be used with Microsoft's motion-sensing Kinect peripheral.
That's all well and good except, as is so often the case with gimmicky motion control games, it played like pure booty.
That is to say, the motion controls, where you need to move your body to race through a course, were janky and unresponsive, ensuring most craved the warm embrace of a plastic controller in record time.
Even navigating the menus was a massive pain, compounding that this is a glorified tech demo that clearly wasn't ready for prime time, and yet got shoved out the door by Sega regardless.
There have been many low points for the Sonic IP, but as spin-offs go, this is the most ill-executed release to date.
