Saber Interactive, on the other hand, has been all too happy to scoop up any survivors to have squeezed every last drop of entertainment out of the former with World War Z.

Rough and ready (as expected of a title published by Focus Home Interactive) it may be, but Saber's multiplayer survivor taps into the same sense of unspoken camaraderie among the still-living when faced with an army of undead as Valve's own IP.

Suffused with just enough original ideas - undead forming makeshift bridges out of their own corpses truly is a sight to behold - and environmental eye candy so as to distance itself from its obvious inspiration, World War Z is the Romero film simulator you never knew you needed.
