9 Bizarre Lawsuits Filed Against The Grand Theft Auto Series

6. Sued By Jack Thompson Over The Murder Of A Child

Jack Thompson, making his second appearance of this list, attempted to sue Take-Two Interactive back in 2003 for inciting JoLynn Mishne to murder his own daughter. Mishne had been an avid player of Grand Theft auto III, and so during the trial, Thompson slipped a note to the judge that read:
€œhe attorneys had better tell the jury about the violent game that trained this kid showed him how to kill our daughter, JoLynn. If they don€™t, I will€.
According to Thompson, the games had brainwashed Mishne into killing his daughter, and had even trained him on how to commit the crime in the first place. Unfortunately for Thompson, this defence didn't stick; however, he later attempted to sue Take-Two Interactive for over $260 million for releasing the game in the first place. Like the first, the case was eventually thrown out as well, but the argument that video games make people violent has persevered in various forms ever since. Damn you, Thompson.
