9 Franchise Revivals That Could Save The Xbox One
4. Conker
Speaking of mascots, Conker's Bad Fur Day is the exact opposite of a game you'd want representing your company. It's loud, vulgar, violent, shocking and completely anti kid-friendly in every possible way. In other words, exactly what Microsoft needs.
You see, the bad mouthed squirrel did something never before done in a video game. He took an innocent looking platformer and transformed it into a 10 hour obliteration of the genre, complete with poo jokes and scathing movie references.
Yet - whilst essentially one long gag - it was still a brilliant platformer in its own right. The controls were fluid, the mechanics were imaginative, and the levels were a joy to explore. Each level was jam packed with memorable moments, leaving those who got a chance to play Conker demanding more of its charming vulgarity.
Although we've seen the squirrel in more recent projects (Dare we remind ourselves of that horrendous AR demo), he's never been given the sequel he so rightfully deserves. With parody games like The Stick Of Truth finding popularity despite their controversial direction, Conker could do wonders in showing Microsoft hasn't completely lost its sense of humour. It's time we were delivered the game we've been salivating over for the best part of a decade.
