Metal Gear Solid was one of the best games on the original PlayStation, and it featured a number of unnerving moments thanks to one of the most interesting video game villains ever. Psycho Mantis is legendary as a creatively designed villain, breaking the fourth wall in a way that was surprisingly freaky. At one point, Psycho Mantis takes control of Snake's ally Meryl, causing her to exclaim phrases like "Hold me, Snake!" and "Hurry... hurry! Make love to me!"
