3. Knights Of The Old Republic - Amnesia Revelation

There was a time once when amnesia was a very valid plot device that wasn't overused at all. During that time, the first KOTOR game came out and blew our minds with a shocking story twist. The player wakes up on a Republic ship that is under attack by Darth Malak, a very nasty Sith who's feared all across the galaxy.

As it turns out, his master was an even worse dude going by the name of Darth Revan. The story is set up in a way that makes you feel Revan's influence on the universe but never find out any concrete information about his identity. That is, until you finally piece together who he really is. It's revealed that the Jedi decided to wipe Revan's memory and try to turn him into a relatively good guy, all the while taking the risk of him turning into a Sith Lord again.

Luckily, that doesn't happen, and the plot twist remains one of the golden moments of gaming.
