2. Rinoa Is Ultimecia (Final Fantasy VIII)

Here's an extremely well thought-out theory that's insane enough it just about works. Rinoa becomes a Sorceress mid-way through Final Fantasy VIII, and as anyone who has ever played an FF game knows, they tend to turn towards the dark side at some point. Rinoa appreciates this, and is told to keep her friends around to offer emotional support, as they can stop from gravitating to evil. However, as her friends begin to die, future Rinoa becomes the villainous Ultimecia. Evidence is compounded by the uncanny resemblance Rinoa and Ultimecia have to one another, yet the one thing holding it back is this - why not
reveal this during the game? It would've made for a shocking twist, and also would have imbued Ultimecia with a far more interesting character; instead, she's rather underdeveloped and not all that interesting. Square Enix have attempted to poke holes in the story, but c'mon, isn't this a lot more compelling than what we actually got?
