5. Rogue One Ripped Off Star Wars: Dark Forces

Rogue One and the 1995 game Star Wars: The Dark Forces are so similar that we wrote a whole thing about it a month before Rogue One hit theaters based on the trailer alone. When Rogue One was finally released all our suspicions were confirmed.

Both The Dark Forces and Rogue One tell the story of the Rebel Alliance while still in its infancy. Rogue One has Jyn Eros as its protagonist, while Dark Forces has a main character named Jan Ors. Those names are barely different. Both Dark Forces and Rogue One also feature Dark Troopers/Death Troopers, which are Storm Troopers in scary black armor.

Similar names and gnarly-looking Storm Troopers aside, the first level in The Dark Forces and the entire plot of Rogue One tells the story of how the Rebel Alliance came to possess the Death Star plans, with both acting as prequels to A New Hope.

There are other matching details like the Empire being directly responsible for killing the parents of both protagonists and Rogue One’s Director Orson Krennic and The Dark Forces’ General Rom Mohc resemblance being uncanny, but I think there is enough evidence here to convict Rogue One already.
