How many great games have you played and enjoyed until you found an especially difficult and irritating level? An absolutely horrendous mission that required you to complete ridiculous tasks or traverse stupidly built gauntlets that sometimes have nothing to do with what was going around for the rest of the game. Sadly, they cannot be skipped and are part of the final adventure. It isn't all that hard to try and ignore them, but they can't be entirely overlooked, either. If I had to choose a metaphor for them, I'd say that these levels are like that nasty salad you had to eat when you were a kid. While you could chomp it all down without looking, the taste was still there, making the entire meal less enjoyable. If you liked everything about a game except for one lousy level, you're probably going to remember the game by all the good things, but the impression of a single bad chapter isn't going to leave you. In this article, we will look back at some such wonders with due amounts of disgust. Mind you, these entries are set in no particular order, simply because they're all bad and it wouldn't be fair to say that some are better than the others. We can only remain hopeful that the number of irritating levels decreases as we step into the new generation of games.
