9 Pokémon That Are Cheap Knock-Offs Of Previous Ones

3. Woobat And Swoobat Are Knock-off Of Zubat And Golbat

Zubat While Zubat may be annoying, it's the perfect bat design - simple but effective. Swoobat is an example of everything that can go wrong when you over-design a Pokémon. Though the two couldn't be much different in their designs their general concept remains the same. In the first and second generation games Zubat served to constantly pester trainers who travel caves. In Pokémon Black & White, Swoobat takes over that role. Whereas Zubat is your general everyday bat serving as a dual Poison/Flying type Woobat is a Psychic/Flying type that is based on the concept of courting and love hence the titles "woo" and "swoon." This wouldn't be a terrible idea if 1) Woobat and Swoobat weren't incredibly overdone and 2) if they weren't implemented simply to serve as a replacement to Zubat and Golbat. Game Freak only made it worse by making their English names sound incredibly similar, making them both blue, and having their shiny forms both be green. Come on, change it up a bit!
