Pokemon's motto is almost as well known as the actual title of the series. At some point in our lives, we've all gone on a quest to "Catch 'Em All" but have you ever stopped and considered just how hard it is nowadays? Back in the Red/Blue/Yellow days, it required a bit of trading between friends and a local event where you could go and download your Mew. Boom, Pokedex done. Now, as of writing, there's 719 varieties to collect and it's a near impossibility to get them all on one cartridge. Oh, but it's so simple, we hear you cry. All you have to do is transfer everything through three different devices; beat every Pokemon spin-off game in existence and find a way to transfer those; and be available to attend every Pokemon event Nintendo host (or wait around for them to release something through wi-fi)! The amount of dedication required to complete a Pokedex nowadays is astounding and even then, it requires you to rely on Nintendo to make the right Pokemon event available. Yes, the GTS (Global Trade Station) can ease the pain massively, but it's so clogged with illegitimate Pokemon nowadays it's hard to use with a clean conscience. Thankfully, Nintendo are doing more and more to help this problem. Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter are apps for the 3DS which specifically help the player in transferring Pokemon to X and Y (the most recent titles in the series). Ruby and Sapphire (currently the hardest games in the series to acquire Pokemon from) are receiving a 3DS update in the form of Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby. Still, even with these advances, it's still going to be take a superhuman effort to acquire every Pokemon legitimately... you could always use Pokesav and Action Replay, of course, but could you really look yourself in the mirror afterwards?
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
