9 Things No One Wants To Admit About Marvel's Spider-Man

6. Martin Li's Reveal Skips Essential Reactions/Dialogue

Centre of the game's marketing as the lead villain, Martin Li's role is fleshed out nicely. We see the real Li helping out at FEAST alongside Aunt May, and later in the game, we dissect his descent into madness, as he struggled with the demonic powers turning him into Mr. Negative.

A problem though, is how the game handles the shift from build-up to villain. We go from spending considerable time with Martin and Aunt May at FEAST, to Parker spotting Li during a bombing attack in New York. When the latter happens, Spider/Peter doesn't react - it comes across more that the shot of him is for the player - to which we then play as Miles Morales, and a "one week later" card means gameplay resumes long after the fact.

Once the latter is in motion, the drive of the plot goes full speed towards apprehending Li, but Peter was knocked out for the duration of the bombing. His sudden need to apprehend Li does make sense if we go with the notion that he did make a mental note of Martin being present at the attack, but a single line of dialogue ("Martin Li?!") or a reactive facial expression would've sewn this up nicely.
