9 Video Game Characters Who Would Make An Awesome Suicide Squad
2. Deadshot - Jack Marston (Red Dead Redemption)
The similarities between Deadshot and John Marston run deep as the Grand Canyon itself. Though Dead Eye Targeting was present in Red Dead Revolver before its sequel Redemption, Marston popularised the mechanic. With it enabled, time slows so the players can steady their aim for the perfect shot, be it with revolver, shotgun or rifle.
Will Smith’s world weary portrayal in the first movie suits Marston’s sensibilities too; both openly embrace their life of violence, though neither is proud of it. But it remains the only life either of them have known, and the only way to get out is to dive in deeper.
Though Marston never says "guess this is my red dead redemption" the way Smith’s Deadshot labels Task Force X "some kinda Suicide Squad," both men call ‘em like they see ‘em. They’re realists, on the verge of pessimists, were it not for that one shining hope: their children.
It’s clear that John is devoted to his son, and wants to give him a better life and this motivation is shared by Suicide Squad’s makeshift leader, Deadshot. Despite the less-than-ethical line of work he’s in, Deadshot wants more than anything to do right by his daughter.
