9 Video Game Hard Modes That Were WAY Too Easy

1. Aliens: Colonial Marines

Aliens: Colonial Marines is infamous for its lack of difficulty, so its inclusion on this list likely isn't very surprising.

A sci-fi shooter that takes place inside the universe first brought to life in Ridley Scott's Alien, Colonial Marines gave us control of the marines tasked with fighting the Xenomorph, which should have been an impossible task.

What the game actually gave us though, was enemies that could be cut through with ease, permanently scarring the Xenomorph's reputation as the baddest being in all the universe, not to mention upsetting fans that had shelled out their hard-earned cash on the title.

It was since discovered that a typo in the code was likely the issue with the game's AI, which itself was the main culprit of the chronically easy gameplay, and once fixed, Aliens: Colonal Marines does actually play with slightly more substantial difficulty.

The problem wasn't just in the development of the game, but in the enemy they used. Nothing in Alien should ever be easy, and we should never feel in control.

Thankfully, Alien: Isolation eventually came along and set the record straight, but that only went a short way towards fixing the mess that Colonial Marines had already made.
