How on earth can you translate the hilarious and unique puzzle-solving game play of Portal into board game format? Simple – you bring on the team that created the video game as designers. Portal: The Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game is a short thirty to forty-five minute game that accommodates two to four players.

The aim of the game is curiously simple: each player has a number of 'test subjects' alive at the beginning of the game. You must portal and transport these test subjects from room to room, because at the end of each player's turn, one of the test chambers on the board gives way and is destroyed, killing any subjects within.

If you have more subjects perish on one turn than everyone else, however, you get cake as a parting gift, which can also fall into oblivion (or be moved closer to it by an enemy player). In the end, the person with the most cake after someone loses their last test subject is the winner. As most board games feature quite a lot of text, there's plenty of room for the series' unique humour to shine through.
