9 Video Games You Didn't Know Were Turned Into Board Games (And How They Work)
1. World Of Warcraft: The Boardgame
How do you translate a MMORPG with hundreds of hours of content (and that's just the base game) into a board game? With some difficulty. World Of Warcraft: The Boardgame sees two to six players engage in a three hour long struggle to beat the current 'Overlord' (be it Kel'Thuzad, the dragon Nefarian, or the demon Kazzak).
The game is team-based, meaning players can choose to ally with either the Horde or the Alliance. You travel the world collecting loot, slaying mobs and powering up for the final encounter. Of course, if you'd rather the victor be decided by trying to eradicate the other team while ignoring the Overlord then that's also completely viable too.
The scope of the game is absolutely crazy, including literally hundreds of components from cards, tokens, plastic character figurines, and more. It takes so long to set up and complete that it's not exactly something you'd want to whip out and play very often, but you've got to respect the fact it actually exists, right? Sadly, there's no "sit around in Orgrimmar doing absolutely nothing" feature.
