Aliens: Fireteam Elite Review

Aliens Fireteam Elite More Fire
Cold Iron Studios

This does sound rather base level, but when considering this is essentially a budget title coming at less than half the price of most other games right now, it can be excused.

And that really does sum up Aliens: Fireteam Elite: You get what you pay for - a Left 4 Dead-like Xenomorph horde shooter. No more, no less.

Also, straight up, there is voice acting from mission-givers, but bizarrely no lip-synching to speak of. Characters in the hub ship barely move, less than NPCs did back on the PS1 with movie-like titles such as Metal Gear Solid or The Phantom Menace game.

Fireteam Elite is a welcome throwback to the films, and even seeks to mix the older films with iconography from from Prometheus, which hasn’t been done so directly yet.

Fans of the series will get a real kick out of it, and this can tick the box for others who wanted a chilled romp or a testing last stand. And seriously, most of the levels within each chapter will have players making "last stands" at least three times or more. If it ain't broke, slap an Aliens skin on it.

At the price Aliens: Fireteam Elite is going for right now, it is hard to falter and not recommend. If this were a full-priced title then the end of this review would be very different indeed, but honestly, as this doesn’t have microtransactions or anything like that, Fireteam Elite is a fun time that can feel like a little basic in spots, but remains ultimately satisfying.
