Assassin's Creed Origins: 11 Early Reactions You Need To Know

2. Movement And Combat Feel Better Than Ever

Despite pioneering free-running mechanics with the original game, Ubisoft haven't done much to keep either their combat or traversal systems feeling fluid or responsive in the years following that title's release. Stagnating where other franchises, including some from Ubi's own stable like Watch Dogs, were striving for great-feeling controls, Assassin's Creed never felt as enjoyable as it should have.

While Origins hasn't completely overhauled these ageing systems, the sequel has still gone to great lengths to make them feel better than ever.

Combat in particular sounds like it has been markedly improved, featuring a range of new abilities (there's finally a block button!) that have increased the mobility and the fluidity of sword fights.

Likewise movement still retains some of its jankiness (and there'll still be a few moments of frustration when a simple jump doesn't go to plan), but with more reliance on travelling by horseback and less dense cityscapes to explore, moving around Origins' sandbox feels better than ever.
