3. Modern Day Segments Are Still Limited

The last few Assassin's Creed games have struggled with reconciling their historical settings with their futuristic story elements. Since the series dropped Desmond as a main character, recent games have cast players as a nameless, faceless avatar in the modern day sequences, with these scenes feeling more like a franchise obligation than an integral part of the experience.

With Origins though, Ubi have attempted to put a larger focus on the plot outside of the Animus, this time casting players as a named character with their own story.

Unfortunately though, if you were expecting something on the scale of Assassin's Creed 1 or 2, you might still be disappointed, as players will still be spending the vast majority of the time exploring the planes of Ancient Egypt rather than foiling modern day Templars.

The deeper futuristic story players have asked for is there, but there isn't much of it.
