If there's one thing early impressions have agreed on, it's that the hunting mechanics in Origins are actually quite fun. In the same way as games like Far Cry or Rise of the Tomb Raider, players can hunt down animals and use their hides to make essential gear, resources and upgrades.

While this system has been done to death in recent years though, Assassin's Creed keeps it feeling fresh, making it a compelling side activity by awarding it with a bit more depth than usual.

Using your eagle to scout out areas where certain animals might be, you can get the drop on them or lay traps that award you with clean kills and a higher chance of getting better materials.

It's not a make or break feature, but it could be indicative that this time around the developers have actually put a bit of effort into making the game's side content something you actually want to do.
