Assassin's Creed Origins: 5 Locations We Need To See After Egypt

This one is so obvious it's amazing Ubisoft haven't done it yet. The type of Assassins that the developers have created over the years are ninjas, they just are. Sneaking around, using incredible parkour techniques and deception to throw people off their trails is almost the definition of a ninja. So heading to the birthplace of the ninja seems to make sense.

The Western view on the ninja and Japan in general could be an interesting prospect to explore in a Japanese-set Assassin's Creed game. Ninjas were assassins and spies, Samurai were proud and noble, warriors. Their entire ideology, like that of the Templars and the Assassins, differs. Ubisoft could replace the Templars and Assassins with ninjas and samurai or they could find a way to incorporate all of them.

There is so much nuance to ancient Japanese culture that boiling it down to samurai vs. ninja seems too simplistic. Ubisoft could introduce a Western Assassin to Japan, this could lead to him or her learning new techniques from the ninjas. Or, if Ubisoft felt brave, have the ninjas as the antagonists, that would be a swerve as good as 'how do you like them apples' from Assassins Creed 3.

It seems only a matter of time until Ubisoft take the plunge and set an Assassin's Creed game in Japan.
