Assassin's Creed Origins: 5 Locations We Need To See After Egypt

2. Ancient Rome

Ancient Rome is one of the most recognisable time periods in history. Most people know something about the legendary period, or many of its famous figures such as Caesar, Nero, and Caligula.

Rome was a place of politics, debauchery, and violence, the perfect place to drop an Assassin, a few Templars - though they would not be Templars yet - and a piece of Eden. Intertwining all those aspects could make for an intriguing game, especially if it was a direct sequel to Assassin's Creed Origins. Depending on the exact date of Assassin's Creed Origins, what if the protagonist from that game made his way to Rome? Or, have the game set during the period of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and Cleopatra.

Ancient Rome could see the Colosseum be used in all its glory. Imagine having to compete in the gladiatorial games inside the Colosseum with 50,000 Romans screaming. Chariot racing at Circus Maximus was another past-time of the Romans that could be used. The racing was extremely dangerous but was popular and could be incorporated into the game as a favourite of the protagonist.

If Ubisoft goes in the direction of creating worlds rather than stories, then Ancient Rome could be the ultimate historical playground. Baths, gladiators, politics, legions, Emperor - it would all be in one setting, the ultimate historical sandbox.
