Assassin's Creed Origins Review: 6 Ups & 5 Downs

3. It Takes FOREVER To Really Get Going

Again, part of the faux-"epic" feel comes from having a preamble that does eventually click into gear and works towards establishing the assassin order, but can easily go on for many hours depending on how much you indulge in the never-ending side missions, tombs and hidden world elements.

Such things are mandatory to some degree too, as the main missions you actually want to take on are regularly distributed at 3-5 levels above where you are, forcing you to take on such arbitrary side missions to stand a chance.

If you DO decide to tackle a mission far above your recommended level and succeed, then the next batch that unlocks will be even more out of your supposed reach. At some point you just have to leave the main thread for sizeable chunks of time, and being that for fans like myself who were dying to get stuck into the assassin creed's origin part of Assassin's Creed Origins, it's pretty deflating.
