Assassin's Creed: 10 Times The Templars Were Right
4. Torres And The Hunt For The Observatory - Assassin's Creed Black Flag
Assassin's Creed Black Flag's Governor Torres is perhaps one of the best examples of the goals and ideologies of the Templar Order coming together properly. Smooth talking, devout and unnervingly fixated on his goals, Torres was also in vocal opposition to things such as slavery and, on more than one occasion, spared some of his staunchest enemies from unnecessary violence.
Throughout Black Flag's story, he is constantly trying to steer Edward away from a course that will his force his hand, and is one of the few Templars in the game to never really look down on anyone beneath his social status.
Torres' fixation on finding and making use of the Observatory is also fairly admirable. The heart of his plan revolved around capturing Bartholomew Roberts and using the power of the Observatory to control the British, Spanish and other imperialist empires around the world from the shadows. Though this might be closer to 'slavery-ish' than it is to world peace, there's no denying that Torres and the Templars plan certainly carried more potential for good than the Assassins plan of simply doing nothing at all.
