Assassin's Creed Odyssey: 10 Reasons It's The Best In The Series
2. A More Personal Story
Assassin's Creed games have always had a laser focus on their characters and stories, but after the relatively predictable story of Origins, Odyssey feels like the jab in the arm the series has needed.
One thing carried over from Origins that works well is the lack of focus on Templars and Assassins. Rather than giving us the same tired story that we've seen before, Odyssey does its own thing and tells a much more personal tale.
This personal focus makes getting through Odyssey's huge adventure much more appealing, and not nearly as much of a slog as it could have been. There are teases and hints of the wider Assassin's Creed universe, but it's still much more focused this time around.
The present day storyline isn't as involved as we'd like it to be, but what's there is pretty fun. Layla works pretty well as a successor to Desmond, and bigger things are hopefully coming in the future.
It helps that Kassandra manages to carry the whole adventure, resulting in the best protagonist since Edward. More of her please.
