Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate - 10 Things It Must Learn From Brotherhood

7. Drop The City Renovation

Something that Brotherhood brought forward from AC2 that it probably shouldn't have done was the city renovation sidequest, except instead of Monteriggioni, Rome was scheduled for a reupholstering. It's understandable why Ubisoft brought it back after AC2, since it was a fairly novel concept and it was kind of interesting for a bit during the second game.

But it was decidedly not fun during Brotherhood, for a few reasons. For one, you couldn't even open the shops in a district until you'd liberated it, which was a chore in and of itself. For another, it meant that if you were in a non-liberated district and you needed a shop, you'd either have to trundle back to somewhere you had opened one (which could be the other side of the map), or go and kill the Guard Captain.

It's not like there was any particular benefit to the renovations, either - yes, the faction buildings like the one above were kind of useful, but apart from that, there was nothing of real use to spend the money on.

It was one of Brotherhood's few flaws - but it needs to be mentioned. Ubi keeps bringing it back - but let's hope it goes away for Syndicate.
