One of the more curious rumours going around the internet is that not one but two Assassin's Creed games will be published during 2014. This was based on the previous assumption that one game will be released for the next generation of game consoles, and a different game available for those of us who still have Xbox 360s and PS4s. This "split" idea has been denied very recently by the game director of AC4, Ashraf Ismail, who said, "I think Ubisoft as a company has already said that there's a huge pool of players on Xbox 360 and PS3, so of course we'll continue to support them, how is up to each team to figure out on their own. For sure though, with Assassin's Creed we can't let hundreds of millions of players that own older consoles miss out on AC. So for sure, we love the next-gen consoles and seeing how far we can push the content but we have to see how we also cater to our fans that have the Xbox 360 or PS3." But consider that he was being directly asked about the two games issue and at no point did he say that two games were not coming out in 2014. Also remember that we had two AC games out in 2013, both Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD. Note though that the change that was made between Liberation's release on the PSP and the later release on consoles they dropped the "III" part of the name, so it was released without a number. The reason why this might be important is that there is a video that is rumoured to have been filmed by a Ubisoft staffer of a presentation which featured a logo for Assassin's Creed: Great Fall without a number. Could this be the second AC game for 2014? If it was a Photoshop job, then it seems too clever to have been included. With the internet clamouring for hints about AC5, it is to be expected that any Photoshopped footage to include the all-important "V" in the mocked up logo but this doesn't. Is Great Fall a reference to Assassin's Creed: The Fall, that Russian based comic book? Therefore is Great Fall in fact the Russian Industrial Revolution game that is rumoured to be coming out? So have, in fact, all these rumours about V actually been about a different AC game entirely? Or are we about to see the Assassin's Creed version of Zelda's Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages with two linked games that play in unison, possibly reading from each other's saved game files? We'll only know for sure when Ubisoft wants us to know.
