Batman Arkham: 10 Boss Fights That Blew Us Away

3. Scarecrow - Arkham Asylum

The three Scarecrow sequences in Arkham Asylum are easily some of the most memorable scenes of the whole series. They're incredibly scary, which is a necessity for any scene featuring Scarecrow, and they also demonstrate Scarecrow's quest to drag Batman deeper and deeper into madness.

However, Batman is the hero of the story and the player is able to pick him back up and help him fight his way back to reality every time, with increasing difficulty and intensity.

He tests you with many horrific visions, including the dead Wayne parents. The most notable hallucination, however, is when Scarecrow shatters the fourth wall and scares the player into thinking their game crashed.

In the beginning of the third Scarecrow encounter, the game seemingly crashes. It reboots itself back to the opening cutscene, which would make a first time player terrified that they had just lost hours of progress.

The cutscene is different this time, though. Joker is driving the Batmobile, and Batman is his prisoner. Batman is taken into Arkham Asylum, examined by many other villains who are running the place, and then shot in the head by Joker.

It's a shocking scene that players will remember for a very long time.
