Batman Arkham Knight: 10 Things That Should Be Included
5. A Big, But Exciting World
Arkham Asylum offered a fun game in a contained environment, giving Arkham Island just the space it needed to feel fresh while peppering it full of references and designing well laid-out buildings to go with it. Arkham City supplied a sandbox five times bigger than that of Arkham Asylum's, and it still felt like a vibrant open world in which areas were clearly defined and references abounded. Then along came Arkham Origins, double the size of City's world (although it included the area used in City) but feeling much less unique and much more dull. It was hard to tell different areas apart and there were far fewer references than in the other games. Again, Rocksteady has promised to give us a game world five times the size of Arkham City's in Arkham Knight. That means Arkham Knight's game world will be 25 times the size of Arkham Asylum's. That's staggering to comprehend, but as Yoda once wisely put it, size matters not. It is the content that makes the game, not the size of the world, and Gotham must feel very defined like a character of its own to make the game really amazing.
I'm a fan of all things comic book and an avid moviegoer. Trying to catch up on a never-ending backlog of films- maybe someday. Leave me a comment if you enjoy my articles, think I'm a hack, or anywhere in between.
