Batman: Arkham Knight - 12 Superhero Franchises Rocksteady Must Tackle Next

9. The Question

One of DC's acquisitions from Charlton Comics, Steve Ditko's crusader of social justice has evolved a lot since his initial inception, but his status as one of the DC Universe's best and brightest crime fighters has not been lost in all his years of active service, and his mantle was carried on very nobly by GCPD officer Renée Montoya after his untimely passing. Most fans will know of Vic Sage from the 'crackpot conspiracy' interpretation offered by the fondly remembered Justice League: Unlimited, but there is so much more to the character than just that. When revitalised by Dennis O'Neil (who the more acute of Bat-fans will know gave Batman his darkness during the 1970s) The Question made a name for himself fighting corruption in Hub City, becoming one of the finest martial artists in the universe under the pupillage of Richard Dragon along the way. It really should be mandatory reading for anyone who considers themselves a denizen of DC, even if the books are notoriously difficult to track down. A Question game could work if it took heavy inspiration from both L.A. Noire and Arkham's freeflow combat, and would really emphasise detective work moreso than Rocksteady's recent Batman titles have done. Heck, there's even some potential for some crossover too, as Vic has worked with the likes of Huntress, Batman and Green Arrow on multiple occasions. It may not be the obvious choice, but the journalist turned vigilante is just as worthy of the triple-A treatment as any A-Lister is.
Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
