6. Ace The Bat Hound

There have been a plethora of playable pooches in video games in recent history, from Wolf Link in the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to Amaterasu in Okami, so this might not be as crazy as it first sounds.

When Batman and Robin came across a stray German Shepherd and ultimately returned him to his owner, a bond was created between Ace and Bruce. When his master could no longer care for him, Ace was passed into Bruce’s care and became an integral member of their crime fighting family.

It would be both incredible and entirely new for this franchise to control Ace in stealth sections, sneaking around the alleyways and abandoned warehouses of Gotham chasing down a scent.

Much like Commissioner Gordon’s proposed Cop’s Hunch gameplay mechanic, Ace would utilise his own version of Detective Mode to sniff out trails and ultimately locate his targets.

And, boy, when he finds them…

Controlling Ace the Bat Hound during combat sections could be a series highlight, even in a franchise so lauded as the Arkham games.

Akin to Wolf Link’s combat in Twilight Princess, but with the block/counter mechanic invented and refined by the Arkham series, Ace’s combat sequences would be epic.

Remember the first time we saw Yoda flipping and jumping around in lightsaber combat with Count Dooku? That level of greatness could be achieved again.
