Batman: Arkham Trilogy - 15 Insanely Cool Easter Eggs You Totally Missed

12. Joker's Cough

Game: Arkham City

The twist at the end of Arkham City - that one version of Joker was Clayface all along - was a big shock, giving fans the chance to see the popular character in the Arkham series properly (as he did technically appear in Asylum as a riddle).

Upon replaying the game, players did start finding clues alluding to this twist, such as Harley’s dialogue near the start of the game where she appears confused by the plan, as well as the big fight against the now healthy Joker where, by viewing him in Detective Mode, you can see he doesn't have a skeleton, proving that this is actually Clayface in this scene.

Better yet, a lot of people missed another big clue, possibly the most obvious one in hindsight.

Towards the end of the game, as Batman makes his way through the steel mill, Joker appears in a video where he makes a speech about preparing for disappointment. The content of the speech itself is it's own reference to the finale of the TV show Lost, as Joker talks about it 'ending in a church'. However, a lot of players may have missed a key moment in this scene.

As Joker talks and utters the line 'they tell you what it's all about', someone can be heard coughing as the camera shakes briefly. This is clearly the actual Joker, still sick, filming Clayface for the video. Hiding this little Easter egg behind another reference was a great way for Rocksteady to subtlety hide the big reveal of the game's finale in plain sight.
