Batman: Return To Arkham - 8 Ways It Proves Remasters Are Totally Ridiculous

4. Time Would Be Better Spent Making New Games

We all know that another Batman game is a certainty. It may or may not be coming from Rocksteady, but the Arkham IP is just too bankable to let go.

That being said, I think it’s safe to say that audiences would much prefer genuine sequels – not rehashes of releases gone by. It’s not just Arkham where this is the case either, Capcom are currently remastering pretty much every Resident Evil you could possibly think of, and we've had remakes of Darksiders, Heavy Rain, and even Deadpool. All made by competent studios I might add, but doesn't that just add to the sense of frustration that we're not actually getting anything new?

Take High Moon studios for instance; the harbingers of two of the best Transformers games of all time, the muted reaction to Deadpool pretty much eviscerated the developers' autonomy, as they've now been reduced to offering assistance on Activision's yearly barrage of Call of Duty titles, and, of course, that pointless remake of the Merc with a Mouth.

Instead of trying to cash-in on the hype for Deadpool, it would've been so much better if they'd been able to work on a proper sequel to Fall of Cybertron, especially considering the cliff-hanger it left everyone on when it ended. It's beyond frustrating to see studio talents wasted on rehashing games everyone's already played, and High Moon's story is only one example of talents being wrongly allocated.
