Batman: Return To Arkham - 8 Ways It Proves Remasters Are Totally Ridiculous

5. Nothing Meaningful Has Been Added

Though Arkham was undoubtedly improved upon through multiple sequels, spin-offs, and adventures in other mediums, Asylum and City were about as close as you could get to perfection.

Asylum’s combat was obviously surpassed through its sequels, but apart from that, what else is there really to add? So far there’s been no indication that the freeflow perfection of Arkham Knight has been transplanted to either Asylum or City. Likewise, enemy variety is unlikely to diversify, and if nothing is being added apart from a visual makeover (which we’ve already established looks worse than the originals anyway), then what really is the point behind this remake?

I understand that you’re effectively getting two GOTY edition games with a purchase of the collection, complete with DLC, but without any meaningful additions to the bread and butter gameplay of the Arkham formulae, this release really struggles to justify its existence.
