Battlefield 2018: 8 Leaked Details You're Not Supposed To Know
5. Historical Prototype Weapons Will Return
While I've already mentioned that returning to the well-trodden battlefronts of World War 2 could result in a game which doesn't feel as fresh as Battlefield 1, the devs apparently aren't rigidly sticking to the tenants of what players expect from a WW2 shooter.
Just like the previous game took liberties with weapons so that players weren't sneaking around maps and waiting five minutes to finish reloading, the upcoming sequel is also going to introduce prototype guns and items from the era so fans aren't firing the same Thompson machine guns or M1 Garands that they're so familiar with.
The form these weapons will take hasn't been revealed yet, but from this little tidbit alone, it's clear that the game is striving to not rely on the WW2 iconography that gamers have seen so many times before.
