Battlefield 3: 10 Reasons Why We Are Still Playing

8. Frostbite 2 Engine

Oh, Frostbite. While it might be as impressive as CryEngine 3, Frostbite 2 does an admirable job of rendering Battlefield 3 in all its glory. From seeing a building fall down, to hearing an awesome sound effect to seeing massive maps covered in players, Battlefield 3 is quite the looker. The animations are superb too, even in online play where most games fall apart. I once saw a solider run, stop, pivot on his foot, turn completely around and run the other way. The animations keep everything running smoothly, especially the vaulting over objects. And regardless of how good the game looks, the engine still has some kinks that need working out, and the glitches range from frustrating to down right hilarious. Oversized snipers, downed soldiers falling in odd positions and whacky vehicle physics. Is there anything better than sending a jeep miles across the map with C4? These hilarious moments keep us playing and fooling around for hours on end. Beep bep!
