Battlefield V: 10 Radical Gameplay Changes You Totally Missed
2. Fortifications And Destruction
Following on from their ambitions of making Battlefield V the most immersive game in the series, DICE have updated their destruction engine so that it reflects in-game actions.
Unlike other titles, destruction will now be entirely dependent on what happens in matches. Throwing a grenade into a building will blow the walls out, while an explosion that happens outside will send the rubble flying inward, for instance. Likewise, if you're driving a tank through a structure, it well bend and shift depending on the point of impact, rather than just exploding into the same canned animation that would occur if you fired a rocket at it.
Building on this is the new fortification system, which will allow players to repair damaged buildings and even create new structures at certain points in a map. This includes LMG nests and traps for incoming enemies, which can be built in preparation of inbound attacks.
Theoretically this should help defenders maintain cover while attempting to secure supremacy over an objective, rather than being wailed on and then trounced when there's nowhere to hide.
