Battlefield V: 10 Radical Gameplay Changes You Totally Missed
1. "Attrition" Means Slower Firefights (But Better Teamwork)
By far the biggest change to Battlefield V is DICE's new approach to multiplayer balance, which the devs are dubbing "attrition". Unlike other games, you're going to spawn into matches with far less ammo and fewer grenades than you usually would, inspiring a more methodical, less frantic playstyle.
Not only will this make team play integral to winning matches - as you'll need to build resupply points if you don't want to run out of ammo after firing off a few mags - but it should also make the action even more intense. While you have fewer grenades, for instance, their destructive capabilities have been upped, to make them far more devastating in a round.
It's interesting that DICE would opt to do this now, rather than implement a similar system in Battlefield 1, as World War 1 is a notoriously slower and resource-intensive conflict, but it's still an interesting way to take the franchise. No longer can you rely on features you previously took for granted, and now every shot needs to count.
