Battlefield V: 10 Radical Gameplay Changes You Totally Missed
6. Grand Operations
By far the best thing about Battlefield 1 was the Operations game mode. It was essentially Rush on steroids, a mad scramble to take two objectives in a mode which spanned multiple matches and maps. It was already huge in scope, but V's Grand Operations are set to take things one step further.
While the general idea is the same - a game of attrition as two sides battle over objectives - DICE are doubling down on the storytelling elements present in 1's version, with each Operation happening over the course of four in-game days. With a different objective and map representing each day, your player character will become more disheveled as the conflict wears on, while vehicles and ammo will be harder to come by.
DICE are planning to tweak these operations as the months go on as well, switching up the maps involved, as well as which weapons and vehicles will be most prominent.
That's a winning idea, as while the storytelling elements were enjoyable in Battlefield 1, they made the Operations feel slightly more restricted and formulaic. By making them more adaptable this time around though, fans should enjoy way more replayability.
