Before FIFA 13: The Evolution Of Football's Biggest Gaming Franchise

2009 - FIFA 10

Manager Mode was drastically improved in FIFA 10. The addition of the "Total Football Experience" feature allowed gamers for the first time to view results from other matches throughout career mode. The "Assistant Manager" mode made its debut, with the player being able to hand over control to the AI to choose their match day squad for them. With impressive AI intelligence, the Assistant Manager took into account immediate fixtures when picking a team. For example, if a players next game was against lower rated opposition, the Assistant Manager would assign players usually on the bench into starting roles. Pre season friendlies made their debut to career mode, giving players the chance to try out new tactics or bed in new signings before the season began. The game featured a comprehensive list of real life stadia. FIFA 10 featured 50 stadiums, including most of the larger stadiums from Europe's most prominent leagues, such as the Allianz Arena, Camp Nou, Emirates Stadium, Anfield, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and San Siro, rather than the generic stadia from previous games.
