Before FIFA 13: The Evolution Of Football's Biggest Gaming Franchise
2010 - FIFA 11 Manager Mode was replaced by Career Mode in FIFA 11. This mode allowed gamers to play through a season as manager of a club, by picking players, tactics and positions. The player could still play through a season either as one player, ala Be a Pro, or through Player Manager, which entitled the player to both manage and play through a clubs campaign. This leant to a much more immersive and hands on experience in Career Mode. With the tagline "we are 11", gamers could for the first time in the series control a goalkeeper in Be a Pro. In previous titles, gamers could only control the 10 outfield players. To control the goalkeeper, gamers would use the analogue stick to dive left or right for the ball, much like when saving penalty kicks. Celebrations were also improved upon, with certain players real life signature celebrations being added to the series. Celebrations were also made more realistic in the sense that only light weight players could perform acrobatic celebrations I.e backflips etc, again taking into account weight class.
