3. A Good Ol Fashioned Train Robbery. Sort Of. (The Ballad of Gay Tony)
From the outside, people sometimes think that GTA is just a series of samey driving and shooting exercises and while I can sort of see where they get that impression (hey, you cant deny that theres a lot of driving and shooting involved), there are also plenty of amazingly innovative and cinematic moments that practically force the players jaw down somewhere to knee level. The train theft from TBoGT is one such moment.
Working for insane billionaire Yusuf Amir, protagonist Luis Lopez must mission impossible it down onto the roof of a speeding subway train and go toe-to-toe with a slew of attacking police helicopters. Eventually, after the car is detached from the rest of the train, Yusuf arrives to lift the entire carriage from the tracks, you included, in an elaborately constructed crane-chopper. WTF is right. Its a truly great mission, and serves to remind us all why we should be more than excited for whats to come in GTA V.
In most other games, missions just do not come this exciting, this cinematic or this WTF inducing, and for that, R*, we salute you!
