5. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
I know there will be some responses to this complaining that San Andreas is not higher up on the list. However there are several reasons that I'm not ranking it as a "better" game. It is not that San Andreas is a "worse" game than any of the others. San Andreas is an incredibly fun game with a flawless story and remarkable characters. Rockstar put so much passion into this game, giving players a sense of freedom and realism that had been previously unseen in any game before. Character and vehicle customisability went to immeasurable extents. The map was a sprawling landscape of bustling cities and beautiful countrysides. Vehicles covering land, sea, and air, from bicycles to trains and yachts to fighter jets. San Andreas included so much diversity and versatility that allows players to do almost anything they want - work-out, gamble, pilot aircraft, go on dates (and try to avoid other girlfriends), participate in triathlons, deck out vehicles, and so much more. Rockstar created a vast world of options that gave players so many paths that they could take. Despite all of these innovations, San Andreas finds itself lower on the list for the sole reason that it is not innovative enough as the likes of Vice City or III, which truly set the standards for all future Grand Theft Auto games. Without those two games, San Andreas would never have been a possibility.
