Bloodborne: 10 Complaints Fans Are Already Sick Of Hearing

6. "Nothing Makes Any Sense"

Remember when Bungie caught a hell of a lot of flak for gutting the story out of Destiny, instead placing it inside an official app or asking you to go to a website to read it? It was pretty ridiculous - serviceable enough, but ridiculous - and although Bloodborne (like Dark Souls) has everything you need within its many blood-stained walls, you're going to have to work to know what's going really going on before the end. That being said, the narrative is far less obtuse than in the Souls series where you'd need a string of specific items to even hazard a guess at someone's motivations or character. Instead, Bloodborne lets you into its baseline fact that you're embroiled in a city-wide hunt for nightmarish beasts, but then leaves the rest up to you. If you want to find out more about your character you'll have to keep talking to those you come across, seek out specific figures in the Hunter's Dream hub-world, and of course check out those essential items too. But, if you just want an old-school approach about a game where you embody a badass Van Helsing-style cloak n' musket-equipped demon hunter, that's there for the taking too.
