Brian Terwilliger Interview: Returning To G4, WWE Partnership, Xavier Woods, More
Having worked with Woods previously in WWE, how much did he want the G4 revival to happen?
Terwilliger: It's no secret that gaming is super important to him. Obviously, when I made the transition over, we had our shortlist of talent we wanted. There's an obvious reason why he was very much at the top of it. In terms of what has been important to him, since we first crossed paths to support him through UpUpDownDown, he always wanted to follow his passion and it was very inspirational. Gaming was very important to him and this was an area that he wanted to carve out for himself, so he followed that and it made it real easy to go knock on those doors and open some of those avenues. Once he gets the opportunity to show what he can do, he's now synonymous and he's a name within gaming.
Five years ago, pre-UpUpDownDown, having a WWE Superstar accomplish something like that outside of their own IP may not necessarily have happened. It's because of his determination and was his own gaming show a goal? You're damn right it was. UpUpDownDown is his own fictional universe, his own promotion, but being able to have his own show and call his own shots was absolutely a goal. It's all a part of his master plan, and I don't want to speak for him, but I know how much this means to him as well as all of the talent that have been a part of UpUpDownDown. They support his vision and realize the importance of games, not only as gamers but as fans of gaming as a whole.
