Brian Terwilliger Interview: Returning To G4, WWE Partnership, Xavier Woods, More

Did you ever expect G4 to come back at some point before it finally did?

Terwilliger: It was one of those things you always wanted to happen, but just like with any reboot, it would have to be perfect for them to pull it off. There were always whispers over the years that something would happen, but it was never something that I felt had enough... either the timing wasn't right on the industry side or there wasn't the right chemistry behind the scenes. When this opportunity presented itself, all of a sudden, all of the right stars aligned and not only is the right time with the industry but gaming as a whole presents such a unique opportunity with casual gaming and competitive gaming and e-sports.

The pandemic provided opportunity to not only continue to grow but be front and center of mainstream and pop culture. This is the cross-section that G4 didn't necessarily need but it presents the unique opportunity where more eyes across media as a whole are now really looking at how to serve this audience, which is the future, and gaming as a whole is the present. E-sports isn't the future, it's the present. Having a team that realizes that and understands that is so important and so unique to what we're doing.
