Call Of Duty: 15 Iconic Moments That Confirm Its Genius
10. Modern Warfare 3 'Davis Family Vacation'
Controversy for its own sake doesn't benefit anyone but this part of MW3 justifies an unexpected exception. The level is just a glorified cut-scene but the content is devastating. In it we see the results of a failed SAS operation to destroy chemical weapons, and if you've played any of the Infinity Ward CoDs, you can inevitably see where this is going. Basically, there's going to be tragedy. The player as Mr. Davis is forced to watch his own child and wife die before kicking the bucket himself. Unlike a similar scene in the first Modern Warfare, this brief portion highlights the contrast between peace and war. The passing of the child symbolises the ultimate loss of innocence in the universe and serves to inspire the player to even greater feat of heroism so as to not let down again. How could something akin to 'No Russian' work twice if it wasn't brilliant?
I’ve been a film fan for as long as I can remember, with one of my earliest memories watching my dad’s copy of Star Wars one rainy afternoon in the mid-nineties. Then the 21st century happened, and my interests developed from there – mainly including comics and video-games, and recently an introduction into WWE. It’s a good time for popular culture.
