The rumours surrounding Call of Duty 2019's DLC model have been... contradictory. On the one hand, some sources have pointed towards an extensive season pass-style plan, with 15 new maps dropping alongside new weapons, modes, supply drops, beta content and costumes.

On the other hand, other reports have suggested that the game won't have a season pass at all, and Activision are planning on releasing every single new map for free to not split in the player base, no doubt relying on microtransactions to make up the loss. This isn't the first time we've heard about this either, as last year it was rumoured that Treyarch was looking for a way to make their DLC maps free as well, something which didn't come to fruition.

As a whole, the idea of paid-for DLC maps feels a little archaic, with major live service games like Battlefield, Overwatch and Rainbow Six: Siege all releasing them for free, and charging for other items like cosmetics or new characters. Activision need some good PR, and this would be an easy win.
